Welcome to Staten News — where a box nobody has opened yet can lose a car payment over a long weekend, and the promo everyone paid extra for just stopped costing extra.
On Friday, the 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collection [Night] traded at $575.44 on TCGplayer. On Monday it was $510.03. This morning it's $450.33.
That's $125.11 gone in five days, or 21.7%, and the product doesn't ship until this Friday.
📉 The Night Premium Is Dead
Friday's gap between the Night and Day versions was $41.47. Monday we told you it had shrunk to $14. Today, Night sits $2.16 below Day. The premium didn't shrink. It flipped.
Here's the slide since our October 30 snapshot, TCGplayer market via our Staten Deals release tracker, November 4:
UPC [Night]: $575.44 to $450.33 (down 21.7%)
UPC [Day]: $533.97 to $452.49 (down 15.3%)
Figure Collection [Mewtwo]: $157.95 to $146.29 (down 7.4%)
Classic Collection Pack: $293.68 to $272.31 (down 7.3%)
Ditto Premium Collection: $191.89 to $180.14 (down 6.1%)
These are thin presale markets. A handful of sellers can move a number like this, so don't treat $450 as a floor. But the direction across every product is the same, and that usually means sellers who took preorders are trying to get out before real supply shows up on Friday.
Because presale is where the hype premium lives. Once boxes are physically in people's hands, the listing has to compete with every other person who got an allocation. We'll know within a week whether $450 was the panic or the halfway point.
🐉 Delta Reign's Math Before It Lands
Delta Reign also releases Friday, and the sealed spread is still wide against MSRP:
Booster Box: $226.95 market vs. $161.64 MSRP
Elite Trainer Box: $105.80 vs. $49.99
Booster Bundle: $52.96 vs. $26.94
Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box: $294.97 vs. $59.99
The box works out to about $6.30 a pack. The bundle works out to about $8.83. If you're ripping for singles at these prices, the bundle costs you 40% more per pack than the box.
The chase is Mega Rayquaza ex Special Illustration Rare (138/103, Delta Reign). PriceCharting has it at $473 ungraded. Sold listings on eBay hit $800 on October 25 and came in between $377 and $530 by November 2, with a $449.99 TCGplayer sale on November 3. That's about $350 off the top print in nine days on a card that isn't officially out, though the range was wide all along, with a $381.64 sale back on October 26.
Now run the pulls. NerdSnack estimates about 1 in 480 packs for that card, borrowing TCGplayer's measured Pitch Black rates, since Pokemon doesn't publish odds and no real Delta Reign sample exists yet. At 36 packs a box, that's about a 7% shot per box. Call it 13.3 boxes on average, or roughly $3,026 at today's market, to chase a $473 card.
That's casino math. You'd get other cards along the way, obviously. Nobody should pretend those cards close a $2,500 gap by default.
The gold Mega Hyper Rare (141/103) is worse: about 1 in 1,081, which NerdSnack itself calls its least precise number. PSA population doesn't exist yet for any of this, and PriceCharting shows zero PSA 10 sales of the SIR, so any graded price you see quoted right now is a guess.
🏆 Slowking Took Gdansk While Everyone Stared at Dragapult
Aarni Karjala won the Gdansk Regional on October 31 with Slowking, out of 1,739 players. Tord Reklev finished 5th.
Limitless has Dragapult at 36.5% of the current format, with Basic Box at 8.86%, Slowking at 7.62%, N's Zoroark at 7.29% and Alakazam at 6.39%. Winners have been spreading out too: Dragapult took Louisville on October 10 with Riley McKay, then Basic Box won Nice on October 17 with Luc Gantner.
A format with one deck above a third of the field usually gets farmed. Slowking at 7.62% winning a 1,739-player event is what that looks like.
💰 The Top of the Market Hasn't Blinked
While presale sealed bleeds, the trophy end keeps printing. An Art Academy Mudkip (Japanese) PSA 10 sold for $4.88 million at Goldin on October 26, a month after one brought $3.72 million at Fanatics Collect on September 25. That's a 31% jump between two sales of the same card and grade.
UltraBall counts 775 Pokemon card sales of $100,000 or more from January 1 through November 2, totaling $229.35 million. 622 of those were PSA 10s, and nine of the ten biggest were Japanese. One caveat: Alt's sales only enter that data from July 19, so the back half of the year is overweighted.
Two different markets are telling two different stories. Scarce graded cards are getting more expensive. Mass-produced sealed anniversary product is getting a reality check.
📅 What's Next
November 6: Delta Reign and 30th Celebration release
November 14: Special Event Buenos Aires
November 20: LAIC, Sao Paulo; Delta Reign Build & Battle Box ($48.45 market)
November 28: Stuttgart Regional
December 4: 30th Celebration Binder Collection and ex Tins
This is the week presale prices meet actual supply. Friday's first real sold listings will say more about 30th Celebration than anything the chart has said so far.
