Welcome to Staten News — where the preorder premium finally sprang a leak.
The Delta Reign Elite Trainer Box was going for $135.71 on TCGplayer preorder in late September, per NerdSnack's price check. This morning it's $106.19. Retail is still $49.99.
Prerelease events run October 24 through November 1. The set hits shelves November 6.
📉 The Premium Is Shrinking
Here's where Delta Reign sealed sits on presale, TCGplayer market prices via TCGCSV as of today. Presale markets are thin, so treat every number here as a snapshot, not a floor.
Booster Box (36 packs): $237.43 against roughly $161 retail, or $6.60 a pack
Elite Trainer Box (9 packs): $106.19 against $49.99 retail, or $11.80 a pack
Booster Bundle (6 packs): $65.38 against $26.94 retail, or $10.90 a pack
Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box: $353.00
Build & Battle Box (out November 20): $68.24
Read the per-pack column again. The box is the cheapest way into this set on the secondary market by a mile. The ETB and bundle cost almost double per pack, and you're paying that gap for sleeves, dice and a cardboard box.
The ETB premium over retail went from about 2.7x to about 2.1x in four weeks. That's not a crash. It's air coming out of a presale that ran too hot.
🐉 What Everyone Is Chasing
Delta Reign carries a 103-card main set plus 37 secret rares: 14 Illustration Rares, 17 Ultra Rares and 6 Special Illustration Rares. Mega Rayquaza ex is the headliner, confirmed as both a Special Illustration Rare and a gold Mega Ultra Rare.
No English pull rates exist yet, and TCGplayer hasn't priced the singles. Anyone telling you what a Rayquaza pull is worth right now is guessing. Presale box prices are pricing hype, not odds.
🎂 30th Celebration's Second Act
The main 30th Celebration set dropped September 16, and five weeks later the sealed product is holding up. The ETB sits at $118.66 market with the lowest listing at $109.99. That's more than a presale Delta Reign ETB. The Booster Bundle is at $72.36, and the Espeon Mini Tin goes for about $27.
The top of the set looks like this, TCGplayer market via TCGCSV:
Mew R/RGB, RGB Rare: $4,824.92
Mew B/RGB, RGB Rare: $3,976.43
Mew G/RGB, RGB Rare: $3,738.75
Mew ex 152/128, Special Illustration Rare: $85.32
Gengar ex 154/128, Special Illustration Rare: $70.94
Pikachu ex 150/128, Special Illustration Rare: $58.03
Mew ex 158/128, Futuristic Rare: $46.77
Then there's the November 6 wave. The Ultra-Premium Collection Night (Umbreon ex) is at $594.77 on presale and Day (Espeon ex) is at $558.82. Each box has 30 packs, and one of them is a Classic Collection pack with three etched reprints that you can only get in these boxes.
That one pack trades at $305.31 by itself.
That's more than half the presale price of the Day box sitting in a single booster wrapper. The Ditto Premium Collection ($191.67) and the Mew ($155.74) and Mewtwo ($166.54) Figure Collections land the same day.
🛒 The Weekend Plan
If you're chasing Delta Reign, play the prerelease and wait. A presale ETB that already lost $29 in four weeks, with retail stock arriving November 6, is not a product you need to lock in on a Friday.
If you want sealed exposure this weekend, 30th Celebration is the steadier hold. It's already out, it's already priced, and the ETB is trading above Delta Reign's presale anyway.
And if you're eyeing a November 6 Ultra-Premium Collection, know that roughly half of what you're paying for is one pack. Possible that pack holds its $305? Sure. Guaranteed? Not even close.
This is the week the presale market admitted it got ahead of itself. November 6 decides how far it falls.
One more thing. Delta Reign and 30th Celebration both land November 6, and we've been building something so you never miss a drop again. It goes live next Friday.
