Welcome to Staten News, where money spent the week rotating out of whatever it owned and into whatever it didn't. Tower stocks over carriers. Old Prism Stars over new ex cards. Same instinct, different binders.
📊 Finance
SpaceX agreed to pay about $8 billion in cash for Grain Management's nationwide 800 MHz spectrum, and the market immediately split telecom into winners and losers.
Crown Castle (CCI) was the best stock in the S&P 500 last week, up 17.85% to $79.64, on the bet that SpaceX will eventually need towers on the ground.
The carriers paid for it: T-Mobile fell 9.75% and Verizon fell 9.16% on the week.
Mosaic (MOS) was the worst stock in the index, down 11.98% to $18.74, after an RBC downgrade and rising phosphate and potash costs.
The 10-year Treasury yield touched nearly 5.37% Wednesday, a 24-year high, and the S&P 500 still finished the week up 1.2%.
JPMorgan, Goldman, Citi and Wells Fargo report Tuesday. September CPI lands Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET with consensus at 3.6%.
Our calls for the week: JPMorgan up on rate-driven income guidance, Verizon down as yields and SpaceX keep pressing on it.
